If you are having trouble figuring out how to add media (photos, videos, etc) to this group here's a quick little guide. Firstly, the easiest way to post to the group is to literally click "post" in the upper-right corner of the group page and select the type of media you are posting, and upload it straight to the group. Whatever you upload will be automatically added on your page as well. If you have something uploaded already and would like to add it to the group, go to whatever is is and underneath the post click the [+ group] button and select this group 'Close But Not Quite' and it will be added.

In order for us to keep track of what you are doing on the site and add points we require that all posts be approved before showing up, so if you've added something and it has not appeared in the group albums, shoot either of the admins a message and we will make sure to check it.

Sunday morning (August 17, 2008) we got up early and actually got ready
in enough time to drive to The Home Depot Center in Carson and be at
Warped early. We got there only to realize that we would be in line any
way and could’ve stayed home and had an extra hour of sleep. We
literally were in line for one hour, half of which was just walking to
the end. When we finally did get in we realized that we’d already
missed The Academy is, because for some dumb ass reason, they played at
11:15. WTF! Cobra Starship
came on as we were walking away, but there was such a massive crowd, we
decided to miss them and find the Music Saves Lives booth. We could
hear them from a great distance though, so we enjoyed that.

MSL
actually had a decent set-up for this venue. Throughout the day there
would be signings with different bands, but there were no set times and
we were definitely not about to sit there all day. We contacted Travis’
assistant to set up a time for our interview, and it ended up
conflicting with All Time Low’s
performance. Since we didn’t really have a choice, we agreed and
decided to watch ATL acoustic at the MySpace tent, although we were in
the very back and could see nothing. It was still awesome, although I
could only catch glimpses of Alex.

We
planned on watching M.I.A. at the old school stage, but there were some
more music conflicts, and we don’t do those. We decided to hang out and
take in all that Warped has to offer, in this case, just listening to
random bands on stages we pass. We chilled backstage because it was hot
and everyone we wanted to see was later in the afternoon. We hung out,
drank the nastiest beverage known to man (Warped catering has the worst
beverage ever). When it was time to interview Travis we went to the bus
area where his assistant escorted us onto the bus and we sat at the
messiest table ever and started the interview. The interview was
interesting. I doubt wither of us were nervous, but it was a funny
‘butterflies in my tummy” situation. Travis was really open and candid
about everything, and that was entertaining. The bus had a nice amount
of traffic, but it was cool. I tried to not make it obvious at times
when I’d slowly move the camera to the right to record Matt or Eric, haha. After the interview we headed over to the MySpace tent to watch GCH perform acoustic. We had a great time, I must say.

We
started to make our way over to 3OH!3, and stopped to hear Charlotte
Sometimes perform. She was pretty amazing, so we watched her for a
minute before we continued on our way. We eventually made our way to
the hurley.com
stage where 3OH!3 was getting ready to perform. We were so far back,
but still enthusiastic, because they always have a good time. As soon
as they came out it was pure energy, and although the back of the crowd
is almost always wack, we were not alone. There were a group of kids
just as hyped to see 3OH!3 as we were, so that was funny. Of course we
rocked the fuck out during their performance. Then we decided to make
our way to the main stage to prepare for Gym Class Heroes.

We
walked into the crowd that was waiting for Reel Big Fish to perform. We
wound up leaving because all those assholes were throwing shit and
acting foolish, and with my knee hurting the way it was, I was in no
mood. We decided to sit off to the side and wait to the end of their
set to try and get in or GCH. RBF
was soft and it confused me because their fans were acting all rough
and shit, fucking posers. I caught a cold cause the wind was blowing on
my now damp t-shirt, then we got into the front of the crowd to wait
for GCH.
Angels & Airwaves had what felt like the longest set of life.
Eventually though, Gym Class Heroes hit the stage. As always the show
was amazing. I don't know whether or not it was coincidence that the
one day where we end up on Disashi's side of the stage, Eric kept managing to end up in our faces.

All in all it was a pretty fun day. We did not leave with a lot of merch; I only bought one "OMG ATL!" shirt. I think that Warped was amazing, overall, even with the mishaps. I'm prepared for next year, and I honestly cannot wait to do it again.

My Birthday, Warped & Chula Vista

My birthday was not so much fun as it was an adventure; Warped Tour was not as amazing as I had hoped. LaShaunda and I left my house early Thursday morning so we could beat traffic on our way to Chula Vista for Warped Tour. We got off to a great start, with the 405-freeway automatically branching off to the 5. Like I expected, we missed an exit and long story short, got lost. After we pulled over to ask for directions and started to drive again, we realized my car was making some loud piercing sound. We got nervous, so instead of taking the freeway to the motel, we pulled over to figure out what it was. It wasn’t anything visible, so we eventually asked for a mechanic and were directed to Chago who thought it was the brake pads. While driving to the nearest Kragen for parts, we went into a big dip and the noise stopped. Feeling a little relieved we decided to gun it for the motel, and if anything, get a cab from there to Warped. We finally got to Motel 6, after getting confused several times. San Diego has too many damn freeways.

We checked in, situated ourselves, ate some McDonald’s and headed back out. We got a little turned around again, because the directions were stupid, but we eventually got to the Cricket Amphitheatre. Our first attempt to enter the premises was thwarted by a lame rule that we couldn’t bring in bottles over 20 ounces. We went back to the car, poured our cold Fiji water into our luke-warm 20 oz. Dasani bottles and went for it. Apparently, because LaShaunda’s was open, she had to discard it. Like it’s so impossible to believe that she could’ve took a sip at some point during the walk from the car to the entrance. Lame. That was the start of a terrible relationship with that venue.

We got to the board, wrote down what times our bands would play at what stages and went on to find the Music Saves Lives booth. We got our wristbands and decided to catch some shows. I forgot who we saw when, but I know we watched 3OH!3 and The Academy Is. Both of them were amazing. 3OH!3 is always fun to be involved with, because they're so damn awesome. Although we were in the back for TAI, we enjoyed it because they play the jams every time, obviously. We listened to We The Kings from afar, we were sitting somewhere in the shade. They were having some timing conflicts with the stages and bands would be performing at the same time, canceling out one another's sound. That was quite irritating. When we finally did get backstage somewhere, we had to bunch into this small area. Once Katy Perry came out, another band on the Old School stage came out and totally blew her ass out the water... their music was so much faster, harder, and louder. The music was conflicting and we started to get headaches, so we left during her set.

We ended up buying a decent amount of merch, I more than LaShaunda. We bought and consumed the warmest, nastiest strawberry lemonade of life. We complained a lot about the wackness of the venue, and that was fun... because it was the truth. At some point we were in the bus area and saw Travis McCoy and Katy Perry hop out of a Town Car, which was actually quite amusing to both of us. I took a few stalker shots, because I could. We made the decision to sit through The Vandals so we could bum rush the barricade for GCH. It worked out fabulously.

Gym Class Heroes put on amazing show that evening. I’m not sure if it was because we were so close, but it felt extra special for some reason. Have you ever been looking up at your favorite band member and it looks like they are playing just for you? I know it sounds so fan girl, but I could swear it was happening a lot that night. LaShaunda and me cut up something terrible every time they do ‘Cookie Jar’ because it is just that awesome. I actually really love when they do the Lamb of God cover, it’s amazing to watch… they’re so into it. That performance made up for the overall wackness of the day.

After walking around the bus area for a few minutes we headed for the car, where we sat for about half an hour waiting for traffic to clear. We finally left after a brief tiff with an officer about why I drove the wrong way in traffic. We eventually got back to the Motel. I asked LaShaunda could I hit up Travis, because he was online (which he rarely is). She didn’t want me talking shit, so I made up this random excuse that we wanted to interview him at the last Warped show. Assuming he was not going to reply I sent him a message saying just that and sure enough, he replied. That conversation eventually led to us landing our interview.

Now we’re up in the midnight hours trying to think of questions to ask, because we actually had no previous intentions of doing an interview. We wrote a lot of our own and asked our good friends at upstate-kids.net to input some of theirs. We went to Denny’s at some point, had some good food (no alcohol, wtf?) then went so sleep. The next morning we woke up, lounged and got ready to go to SeaWorld. Despite LaShaunda’s hesitation and lack of understanding, we had a lot of fun. We got on two water rides and a virtual-reality ride hat rocked. We left after about 5 hours though, because our dogs was barking like crazy.

That night, sleepy as hell, we decided to catch the trolly to Downtown. We found out that it’d take more than one to get there and there was a high likeliness of us getting lost. Some random dudes from Long Beach were trying to persuade us to kick it with them in a hotel, mind you there were like 9 of them, and just us two. WTF, you’re kidding me, right? So we decided to go back to the motel, hop in the car and just drive to Downtown. We eventually got there, drove through the Gas Lamp district, which looked like a great time and found the freeway to get back home. We were so incredibly sleepy by this point, lucky for us it was a straight shot and only about a 10-minute drive.

The next day we packed up and left for home. The drive was long and hot, and we were nervous because we never got the car checked out. We made it though. Saturday was just another day getting ready for Warped.
